ORD 85-16 CUTTING CORNERSPMA:jt 9/05/85 ORDINANCE NO. 85-16 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON, CREATING A NEW SECTION 10.0~.100 ENTITLED "CUTTING CORNERS PROHIBITED," TO THE WINSLOW MUNICIPAL CODE WHICH PROHIBITS ONE OPERATING A VEHICLE UPON A PUBLIC ROADWAY WITHIN THE CITY TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO AVOID AN INTERSECTION OR ANY TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGN OR DEVICE CONTROLLING THE INTERSECTION UNLESS SO DIRECTED BY PROPER AUTHORITIES; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, controlling vehicle movement in City intersec- tions is necessary for the public health, welfare and safety of the citizens of Wlnslow, and WHEREAS, the City wants to be able to properly control all vehlcles using City intersections and prohibit vehicles from avoiding controls established at intersections, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. A new Sectlon 10.04.100, Cuttlng Corners, Prohibited, is hereby adopted to read as follows: 10.04.100 Cutting Corners, Prohibited. It is unlawful for any person operating a motor vehicle which vehicle is approaching or leaving any intersection of any public roadway within the City to proceed across any property, whether publicly or privately owned and/or maintained, for the purpose of avoiding the intersection or any traffic-control sign or device controlling the intersection, unless so directed by proper authorities. Section 2. This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published in the official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force five (5) days after the date of publication.
