ORD 91-03 INCREASING SALARIES OF CITY COUNCIL MEMBERSORDINANCE NO. 91-03
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON,
INCREASING THE SALARIES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 71-13, passed on October
18, 1971, the City Council established salaries for City
Council members; and
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 79-44, passed on December
17, 1979, relating to the 1980 budget, the City Council
increased the salary of City Council members to $40.00 per
meeting, for not more than two meetings per month (maximum of
$960.00 per year); and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to ratify and
confirm the salary increase authorized by Ordinance No.
79-44; and
WHEREAS, due to the annexation of Bainbridge Island
to the City, the responsibilities and duties of City Council
members have become more demanding and time consuming; and
WHEREAS, increasing the salary for City Council
members will help stabilize City Council membership and
ensure continued best efforts of City Council members in the
performance of their duties and responsibilities; now,
therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. As of January 1, 1992, the salary for
members of the City Council shall be fixed at $200.00 per
month.
Section 2. All increases in the salary of members of
the City Council that were authorized previously by the City
Council are hereby ratified and confirmed.
Section 3. this ordinance shall take effect and be
in force five days from and after its passage, approval,
publication and posting as required by law.
Section 4. The increase in salary authorized by this
ordinance shall not be applicable to the term of any City
Council member voting on this ordinance.
