ORD 92-47 COMMERCIAL PARKING TAX 8%AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
AMENDING THE RATE CHARGED BY THE CITY'S COMMERICAL
PARKING TAX TO 8.0 % EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1993.
WHEREAS, the 1993 Budget for the City of Bainbridge Island
specifies that the tax on commercial parking businesses within the City
shall be increased from 3.0 % of gross revenues to 8.0% of gross revenues
(which increase does not require a vote of the people and is within
statutory and constitutional limits); and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of
Bainbridge Island for this ordinance to go into effect on January 1, 1993,
now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance 92-11, Section 3 of the City of Bainbridge Island
is hereby amended to read as follows:
From April 1, 1992 through December 31, 1992, there is
levied upon and shall be collected from every person
engaged in a commercial parking business within the City
a commercial parking tax in an amount equal to three
percent (3.0%) of the gross proceeds of the commercial
parking business. On and after January 1, 1993, this tax
shall be levied at a rate of eight percent (8.0 %) of the
gross proceeds of the commercial parking business.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force on and
after January 1, 1993, such date being more than five days from and after
its passage, approval, publication and posting as required by law.
