ORD 93-29 DENSITY REQUIREMENTSORDINANCE NUMBER 93-29
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, PERTAINING TO THE DENSITY REQUIREMENTS
OF THE CITY'S ZONING ORDINANCE AND AMENDING SECTIONS
18.18.040, 18.30.040, 18.33.040 AND 18.36.040 OF THE
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND MUNICIPAL CODE.
WHEREAS, certain corrections to regulations are necessary
from time to time to ensure clarity and consistency within the
City's Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, certain density requirements stated in the City's
zoning ordinance are unclear and inconsistent; and
WHEREAS, the Bainbridge Island Planning Commission conducted
a hearing on May 13, 1993, concerning these changes; now,
therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The following sections are hereby amended to
read as follows:
18.18.040 Lot area and density.
A. The density shall be six units per acre.
B. The minimum lot area shall be 6,534 square feet.
C. When a short plat or subdivision of land is proposed
where all proposed lots meet the minimum lot area in
paragraph B. but do not meet the density requirement in
paragraph A., the short plat or subdivision may be
approved containing no more than one more lot than
would be allowed by the underlying density provided
that all lots meet the minimum lot area.
18.30.040 Lot area and density.
A. The density shall be two units an acre.
B. The minimum lot area shall be 20,000 SF.
C. When a short plat or subdivision of land is proposed
where all proposed lots meet the minimum lot area in
paragraph B. but do not meet the density requirement in
paragraph A., the short plat or subdivision may be
approved containing no more than one more lot than
would be allowed by the underlying density provided
that all lots meet the minimum lot area.
18.33.040 Lot area and density.
A. The density shall be one unit for each acre of land.
B. The minimum lot area shall be 40,000 square feet.

C. When a short plat or subdivision of land is proposed
where all proposed lots meet the minimum lot area in
paragraph B. but do not meet the density requirement in
Paragraph A., the short plat or subdivision may be
approved containing no more than one more lot than
would be allowed by the underlying density provided
that all lots meet the minimum lot area.
18.36.040 Lot area and density.
A. The density shall be one unit for every 2.5 acres of
land.
B. The minimum lot area shall be 100,000 square feet.
C. When a short plat or subdivision of land is proposed
where all proposed lots meet the minimum lot area in
paragraph B. but do not meet the density requirement in
Paragraph A., the short plat or subdivision may be
approved containing no more than one more lot than
would be allowed by the underlying density provided
that all lots meet the minimum lot area.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five days from and after its passage, approval, publication
and posting as required by law.
