ORD 93-15 RECYCLABLE COLLECTIONCITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 93 - 15 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO THE COLLECTION OF RECYCLABLES AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 91-29, AND AMENDING SECTION 13.28.040A OF THE BAINBRIDGE ISLAND MUNICIPAL CODE, AND ADDING A NEW SECTION 13.28.050 TO THE BAINBRIDGE ISLAND MUNICIPAL CODE. WHEREAS, the City has reviewed its recycling program in light of the current market for recyclables and desires to modify the service levels previously specified; now, therefore THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 13.28.040A.3.e. of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: e. Beginning on a date to be established by resolution of the City Council, mixed waste paper. Section 2. Section 13.28.040A. 3. e. of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: g. Beginning on a date to be established by resolution of the City Council, colored, high density polyethylene HDPE (SPI code 2) containers such as those for detergent, fabric softeners and lotions. Section 3. New Sections 13.28.040A.3.h. and 13.28.040A.3.i. are added to the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code as follows: h. Clear high density polyethylene HDPE (SPI code 2) containers such as those for juice, milk or water. i. Magazines. Section 4. A new Section 13.28.050 is added to the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code as follows: Drop Boxes for Voluntary Collection. In addition to the materials specified for collection from single family and multi -family dwellings, the certificated hauler may provide "drop boxes" for voluntary collection of additional recyclables, such as corrugated cardboard, white or colored office paper and other materials for which a market develops after the date of adoption of this ordinance. Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after its passage, approval, publication and posting as required by law.
