ORD 93-14 DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKSAMENDED 6-2-93 ORDINANCE NO. 93-14 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, relating to the discharge of fireworks in the City. SEAS, the discharge of fireworks is a traditional celebration of the independence of our nation on the 4th of July; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that the sale and use of common fireworks should be restricted because of concern for the safety of our citizens, especially our children, and protection of property; and NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Common fireworks may be sold within the City between the hours of 12:00 noon and 11:00 p.m. June 28 through July 4, 1993 and within the same hours between July 1 and 4 for 1994 and each year thereafter. Section 2. Common fireworks may be discharged within the City between the hours of 11 a.m. - it p.m. on the following: July 3, 4, 5, 1993 July 3 and 4, 1994 July 4, 1995 and each year thereafter Exemption: The use of discharge of fireworks in agricultural and aquaculture areas to scare off pests shall be exempted. Notice of the use of fireworks for these purposes shall be registered with the Police Department. Section 3. The City shall join with Kitsap County Fire District 2, the Bainbridge Island School District, and the Bremerton-Kitsap County Health District to provide education to the citizens of the City, especially children, on the safe use of fireworks and to explore the use of alternatives to fireworks.
