ORD 95-20 EMPLOYEE PARKINGORDINANCE NO. 95 - 20 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, relating to employee parking in the City; adding a new section 10.08.085 to the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code; and amending section 10.08.210 of the Balnbridge Island Municipal Code. WHEREAS, employees of businesses in the Central Business District often use parking spaces adjacent to the businesses during business hours; and WHEREAS, such parking spaces should be available to customers of the businesses during business hours; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish an employee parking permit program to remove vehicles of Central Business District employees from such parking spaces during business hours; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. A new section 10.08.085 is added to the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code as follows: Employee Parking. A. In all areas designated for "Employee Parking," any vehicle prope~y displaying a valid employee parking permit issued by the City, or its designee, and complying with all rules and regulations governing the Employee Parking Program administered by the Director of Finance, is authorized to exceed the posted parking hours. B. The City may charge a fee for employee parking permits in the amount established by resolution. Section 2. Section 10.08.210 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is amended as follows: Administration. A. The city shall establish administrative procedures for the administration of parking pursuant to the provisions of this chapter, including, but not limited to, procedures for the issuance of car pool and. monthly parking, and employee parking permits. F:\DMS\RAL\0086036.02 - 1 - B. In addition, the mayor shall appoint and swear in one or more persons as parking enforcement officers who shall be under the supervision of the police department. The parking enforcement officer shall have authority to issue notices of traffic infractions relating to the parking, standing or stopping of vehicles, but shall not be considered uniformed police officers for purposes of LEOFF and civil service statutes. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be effective five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law. PASSED by the City Council this ~rh _ day of July ,1995.
