ORD 96-45 LEVYING GENERAL TAXESORDINANCE 96 - 45 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, LEVYING THE GENERAL TAXES FOR THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, IN KITSAP COUNTY, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1997, ON ALL REAL AND PER- SONAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY WHICH IS SUBJECT TO TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING SUFFICIENT REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE NORMAL ACTIVITIES OF THE CITY FOR THE ENSUING YEAR AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, the City Council of Bainbridge Island has considered the financial requirements of the City for 1997 as set forth in the Mayor's Preliminary Budget, and the amounts necessary and available to be raised by ad valorem taxes on real, personal, and utility property which are included therein, now therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. There shall be and hereby is levied on all real, personal and utility property in the City of Bainbridge Island, in Kitsap County, whose estimated assessed valuation is $2,089,268,670, current taxes for the ensuing year commencing January 1, 1997, in the amount of and at the rate specified below: Regular Tax Levy rate: $1.3280 SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be certified to the proper Kitsap County officials, as provided by law, and taxes here levied shall be collected to pay to the Finance Director of the City of Bainbridge Island at the time and in the manner provided by the laws of the State of Washington for the collection of taxes for non-chartered code cities. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval, publication, and posting as required by lawo PASSED by the City Council this 7th day of November, 1996.
