A RESOIIIfION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF WINSLOW
WASHINGION PRCCIAIMING .THE WEEK OF MAY 10 - 16 AS
[~dq!CIPAL CLERK ' S WFEK.
WHEREAS, the Municipal Clerk, oldest of public servants dating back to
Biblical times, is the hL~o around which revolves efficient and responsive
local government, and
WHEREAS, as local government has grown in responsibility and inportance
through the centuries, so has the con~nission of ~he ~nicipal Clerk, and
WFE~, the Municipal Clerk provides a direct link between past, present
and future by preserving records for posterity and impl~ting decisions
of the legislative body, all the time seeking better and more efficient
ways to do these jobs, and
WHEREAS, the accurate recording, careful safeguarding and prompt retrieval
of public records are vital f~mctions of this office, without whi'ch efficient
and responsive local government could not exist, and
WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks follow a mandate to seek bett. er and more effective
ways to perform those critical responsibilities in light of the rapid tech-
nological advances of today's world, and
WHEREAS, in keeping with this mandate, ~nicipal Clerks also are dedicated
to continuous professional education and training, in order to stay abreast
of those advances.
N~. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW
AS FOLIf~S:
In recognition thereof, the City of Winslow hereby proclaims
the week o f May 10 - 16 as
"MUNICIPAL CLERK'S WEEK"
in recognition of the outstanding and vital services performed by
Muncipal Clerks, reflecting their dedication to public service
for the ccmm~nity.
