RES 93-48 REDUCTION OF SPEED LIMIT ALONG BLAKELY RADRESOLUTION NO. 93-48
A RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge
Island, Washington, reducing the speed
limit along West Blakely Road, from 25
mph to 20 mph from Oddfellows Road to
Pleasant Beach Drive.
WHEREAS, the West Blakely Neighborhood Group has
petitioned the City Council to reduce the speed limit on West
Blakely Road from 25 mph to 20 mph and to install signage warning
of the congested nature of the roads in their community; and
WHEREAS, the West Blakely neighborhood consists of turn -
of -the -century farmhouses constructed near the road surfaces along
West Blakely and Oddfellows Road;
WHEREAS, West Blakely Road is a narrow roadway which is
often times used as an access to Fort Ward State Park; now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The speed limit will be reduced from 25 mph
to 20 mph along West Blakely Road beginning at Oddfellows Road and
continuing to Pleasant Beach Drive.
Section 2. The Public Works Department is directed to
post appropriate signage warning of the congested nature of the
intersection at West Blakely and Oddfellows Roads, such as
"Warning: Hidden Driveways", "Entering Historic West Blakely", or
"Reduced Speed Ahead".
