RES 94-44 HONORING MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE IN THE US ARMED FORCESRESOLUTION NO. 94-44
A RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge Island,
Washington, honoring the men and women who have
served in the United States armed forces.
WHEREAS, in 1919 President Woodrow Wilson prochimed November 11,
Armistice Day, to remind Americans of the tragedies of War; and
WHERI~AS, a law was adopted in 1938, officially making November 11, a federal
holiday; and
WHEREAS, the Congress changed the name of the holiday to Veteran's Day in
1954, to honor all men and women who served in the United States armed forces; now,
therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island as
follows:
The City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island hereby expresses its
appreciation to, and bestows honor upon, those men and women who served in the armed
forces of the United States of America.
