RES 95-07 ENDORSEMENT OF KITSAP COMMUNITY NETWORK PLANNINGRESOLUTION NO. 95-07
A RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge Island,
Washington, endorsing the Kitsap Community Network
Planning process.
WHEREAS, the future health of our community will depend on the health and
safety of our children;
WHEREAS, the Kitsap Community Network is conducting a series of workshops
and surveys to involve citizens in setting goals and developing action plans for raising safe and
healthy kids in our community; and
WHEREAS, the Kitsap Community Network is required to conduct a thorough
analysis of existing programs and activities to determine whether such services are effective in
reducing behaviors such as violence, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, suicides, and school dropouts;
and
WHEREAS, plans developed under this process will encourage collaboration and
eliminate duplication in communities; and
WHEREAS, solutions are best determined in local communities with broad
participation from all sectors of the community; and
WHEREAS, the programs and activities funded under any plan adopted by the
community will be evaluated for their cost-effectiveness;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the City of Bainbridge Island,
Washington, hereby endorses the Kitsap Community Network Planning process and encourages
its members and all citizens to actively participate in the spring and fall workshops and surveys
to collectively identify and bring about a vision for raising safe and healthy children and youth
in our community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington,
hereby agrees to appoint a representative to a community Stewardship Action Team to assist in
establishing the vision, goals, strategies, and action plan for the community.
