RES 95-09 CHANGES TO WASHINGTON STATE GROWTH MANAGEMENT ACTRESOLUTION NO. 95-09
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City
of Bainbridge Island, Washington, urging the
Washington State Legislature to refrain from
making any significant changes to the Washington
State Growth Management Act.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island, finds the
Washington State Growth Management Act to be a critically important piece of legislation that
effectuates responsible, necessary and prudent planning for both land use and financial matters
for the State of Washington and local jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, tremendous time and money has been expended by government and
citizen volunteers in complying with the mandates of the Washington State Growth Management
Act; and
WHEREAS, any repeal or significant modification to the Washington State
Growth
Management Act would result in a tragic waste of the time and energy expended in complying
with the Act and would further undermine the faith and confidence the general population should
have in government affairs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bainbridge Island has in good faith complied with all of
the mandates of the Washington State Growth Management Act; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature is considering major changes to the
Washington State Growth Management Act; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, RESOLVES THAT the Washington State Legislature is urged to refrain from
making any significant changes to the Washington State Growth Management Act that undermine
its goals and policies. Any significant change to the Act will be a tremendous disservice to the
citizens of the State of Washington for generations to come.
