Dear Joel:
City Council had no problem with the general concept of the
enclosed, but I took a bit of flak for failing to include what
some considered your real claim to fame as an islander, the
author, inventor, promoter of that classic -- Pickle Ball.
Business was delayed for a few minutes while the game and its
equipment were described to the uninitiated. I await with
interest the minutes to see how much of that important discussion
they reflect.
Please understand that our amused and amusing diversion was not
in way intended to detract from the sincerity of the sentiments
expressed in the resolution. Anyone seeing your whole record
cannot help but be impressed with your talents and
accomplishments, and extremely grateful that they were exercised
to the benefit of so many in so many diverse ways. We just all
feel a bit smug that you are one of us and that we know, as few
others do that, that you have signifigant accomplishments in
fields other than government.
For all of them we thank you, and I add my personal good wishes
for an interesting, rewarding return to private life.
Sincerely,
CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
