RES 97-25 ESTABLISHMENT OF CORE VALUES FOR ENTIRE CITY ORGANIZATIONRESOLUTION NO. 97 - 25
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING A SET OF CORE VALUES FOR THE
ENTIRE CiTY ORGANIZATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Bainbridge Island (the "City") has been in operations
since February 28, 1991, following the annexation of the entire island to Winlsow
and is evolving as a new city; and
WHEREAS, the City has contracted with a consultant to study the
organizational structure and processes to improve its efficiencies, productivity
and overall customer service; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, City Council and all City staff have participated in
discussions and meetings between all levels in the organization and have come
to a consensus on a set of core values to be expressed in our service to the
com.munity.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE TO ADOPT THESE CORE VALUES ON BEHALF OF ALL
CITY STAFF AND AS SUPPORTED BY THE CITY ORGANIZATION IN ORDER TO
PROVIDE BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Service, Helpfulness, Innovation. We are committed to providing
service to the people of Bainbridge Island and to each other that is
courteous, cost effective and continuously improving.
Inteqrity. We will treat one another and the citizens of Bainbridge
Island with honesty and integrity, recognizing that the trust which
results is hard won and easily lost. We pledge to promote
balanced, consistent, lawful policies and directives, in keeping with
that integrity and with the highest standards of this community.

Equality, Fairness, Mutual Respect. We pledge to act with the
standard of fairness and impartially in the application of policies
and directives and that of equality' and mutual respect with regard
to interpersonal conduct.
Responsibility, Stewardship, Reco~lnition. We accept our
responsibility for the stewardship of public resources, and our
accountability for the results of our efforts, and we pledge to give
recognition for exemplary work.
