RES 98-25 SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON MILLER, FLETCHER BAY AND NEW BROOKLYN ROADSRESOLUTION NO. 98-25 A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, directing the city's consultant to modify the improvements to the Miller, Fletcher Bay, New Brooklyn intersection to meet current safety criteria other than to modify the Line Of Sight. WHEREAS, the City applied for and received a Hazard Elimination Program grant to correct the traffic problems at the Miller, Fletcher Bay, New Brooklyn intersection, and WHEREAS, the City contracted with Kato and Warren as engineers to design the proper safety features for the said intersection, and WHEREAS, the consultant recently provided an estimate to correct only the Line Of Sight (LOS) problems at this intersection, which greatly exceeded the total funded project costs, and WHEREAS, all of the intersection problems must be addressed to improve the vehicular and pedestrian safety at this major island intersection, and WHEREAS, to meet both the safety criteria and the cost limitations, the consultc~nt must modify the original design, to include the Line Of Sight issues as a later project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, that the city's consultant is directed to modify the original design to meet the safety criteria within the funded amount, and to consider resolving the Line Of Sight (LOS) problems in a subsequent project.
