A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Bainbridge
Island establishing a Least Toxic Products List for use by the
City in Pest Management Activities
Whereas, the City establish Chapter 16.30 in the Municipal Code regarding pest
management and pesticide use by city employees by passage of Ordinance 2003-21; and,
Whereas, Section 16.030.030 (C) of the Municipal Code requires that the City establish
by Resolution a Least Toxic Products List for use by the City in pest management and pesticide
application activities proscribed in Chapter 16.30,
Now, therefore, the City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island Washington does
hereby resolve:
4stablishment of a Least Toxic Products List.
Least toxic products are those that meet the criteria for least toxic pesticide and contain only
active ingredients on this list:
A. boric acid and disodium octoborate tetrahydrate
B. acetic acid or citric acid products
C. diatomaceous earth
D. rnicrobe-based insecticides
E. botanical insecticides that that contain only active ingredients found on the EPA 25(b) list
F. biological controls such as parasites and predators
G. corn gluten
H. potassium soaps of fatty acids
I. potassium or sodium bicarbonate
J. iron phosphate
K. sulfur
L. neem
M. horticultural oil
