Bainbridge Island linking Central Kitsap to Seattle.
WHEREAS, the non-profit organization Cross Sound Transportation Coalition is promoting a
new transportation corridor through Bainbridge Island linking Central Kitsap to Seattle; and
WHEREAS, the concept includes a bridge between East Bremerton and Bainbridge Island, a
limited access highway across South Bainbridge and a new regional ferry terminal at Blakely Harbor; and

Bainbridge Island, the condemnation of many millions of dollars worth of property, the industrial
development of the recently preserved Blakely Harbor Park and have tremendous environmental and social
consequences; and
WHEREAS, the proposed route would have serious and potentially catastrophic consequences

WHEREAS, The City of Bainbridge Island currently accepts a disproportionate share of cross -
sound traffic; and
WHEREAS, the economic benefits to the Central Kitsap region from this project do not begin

WHEREAS, there is little or no public or political support for a new transportation facility as
has been proposed; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BAINBRIDGE ISLAND CITY COUNCIL that
