RES 85-23 WYCKOFF SITERESOLUTION ?lO. 85- 23
WHEPi~.AS,F, agle Harbor is an asset to the City of ~ITinslow,
Bainbridge Island and Puget Sound; and
WHEP~AS,scientific studies have shown the l~Tyckoff site and
F~agle Harbor to be contaminated by aromatic hydrocarbons and
hazardous wastes which can have an adverse effect on human
health and the environment; and
WHEREAS,the Wyckoff site has been nominated for inclusion on
the ~Iational Priority List for Superfund; and
WHEREAS scientific studies have shown that pollution is not
confined only to the l~7yckoff site but extends throughout
the mouth of Eagle Harbor; and
~F~RFAS,Superfund provides a mechanism for identification and
remedial action for significantly contaminated sites;
~OW THFP~FORE, the City Council of the City of Winslow
resolves that
1. The Wyckoff site should be included on the ~ational
Priority List for Superfund;
The boundaries of the ~esignated site should be expanded
to include the known areas of contamination in Eagle
Harbor;
The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department
of Ecology recognize the expressed intention of the
Wycoff Company to clean up its site;
4. Public and private remedial action commence in a timely
fashion without undue delay for excessive studies.
