A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE
ISLAND, WASHINGTON, FORMALIZING APPROVAL OF A REVISED
SHORELINE SUBSTANTIAL DEVELOPMENT PERMIT FOR THE
COMMERCIAL HARVEST OF GEODUCK CLAMS IN APPROXIMATELY
750 ACRES OF STATE-OWNED SUBTIDAL BEDLANDS AROUND
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND.
GEODUCK HARVEST SSDP, RES. #95-
WHEREAS, an application was approved under Resolution #95-24 by the City Council
of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, by the Washington State Department of Natural
Resources for a Shoreline Substantial Development permit for the commercial harvest of
geoduck clams in approximately 750 acres of state-owned subtidal bedlands around Balnbridge
Island; and
WHEREAS, the approval documents set an expiration date for the permit as December
1, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the applicants were unable to begin harvest in 1995 as originally planned
because of delays from legal negotiations regarding execution of this permit; and
WHEREAS, the applicants requested an extension to the permit as allowed under Section
16.12.950 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Bainbridge Island,
Washington, as follows:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island approves the application
to extend the expiration date by one year for the shoreline substantial development permit
application submitted by the State Department of Natural Resources for the commercial harvest
of geoduck clams as approved under Resolution 95-24.
