RES 90-19 EARTH DAYRESOLUTION N0. 90-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON,
RECOGNIZING AND CELEBRATING APRIL 22, 1990 AS
EARTH DAY.
WHEREAS, governments alone cannot secure the
environment; and
WHEREAS, we are partners with each other and the
earth; and
WHEREAS, we live on an island and in a town still
small enough so that we show a strong sense of community and
knowledge of our limited resources and the fragileness of our
environment; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL. OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City of Winslow recognizes April 21,
1990, as a civic opportunity to celebrate the beauty of our
environment and our partnership and caring for it and
recognizes April 22, 1990, as Earth Day.
Section 2. For one week following Earth Day (April
23 to April 30, 1990), the City will demonstrate its care by
protecting the water through disposal of hazardous waste at
designated receiving stations; recycling noxious and
environmentally damaging solid wastes; carpooling, walking,
bicycling or using public transportation to protect air and
the quality of life; and planting trees or adopting spaces
that will be kept free of litter.
