RES 90-38 DISCONTINUE UTILITIES TAXRESOLUTION NO. 90- 3 g
A RESOLUTION of the City of Winslow, Washington,
declaring the intent of the City Council to
discontinue the utilities tax on telephone,
electric light and power businesses at midnight
on December 31, 1990, if the annexation of
unincorporated territory of Bainbridge Island to
the City of Winslow is approved by the voters at
a special election to be held on November 6,
1990.
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 90-18, adopted on March 14,
1990, the City Council called for a special election to be held
on the proposition of whether the unincorporated territory of
Bainbridge Island should be annexed to the City of Winslow; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 90-26, adopted on June 21, 1990,
the City Council requested the Kitsap County Board of
Commissioners to call that special election on November 6,
1990, subject to the outcome of a special election in the City
of Winslow on an advisory proposition of whether the
unincorporated territory of Bainbridge Island should be annexed
to the City of Winslow; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the utilities
tax levied on telephone, electric light and power businesses
pursuant to Section 5.08.040 of the Winslow Municipal Code
should be eliminated if the unincorporated territory of
Bainbridge Island is annexed to the City of Winslow; now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON, DOES
RESOLVE to eliminate. the utilities tax levied upon persons,
firms or corporations engaged in the telephone business and the
business of selling or distributing electric light or power
pursuant to Section 5.08.040 of the Winslow Municipal Code at
midnight on December 31, 1990, if the annexation of the
unincorporated territory of Bainbridge Island to the City of
Winslow is approved by the voters at a special election to be
held on November 6, 1990.
