WHEREAS the Evergreen Cities is one of the four %k'ashmgton sate legislative bills as part of
Priorrtiv.% fur a Heidthi, fFaNhing ni which will protect our air land _roundwater and the surrounding
water of Pu. -et Sound and
WHEREAS the Priurnns Jura Healthy IFa.clnn,ktrni coalition is compriNed of over 7th statewide
enviromnental groups working together to build bipartisan support for the tour priorities and
WHEREAS trees reduce runoff a strong source of pollution of Puget Sound and
WHFREAS trees reduce runoff which increases ayuiter recharge and salmon stream tlo\\ and
WHFREAS Bainbridge Island carried the title Tree City USA and
WHEREAS the obtective of the Community Forestry Conunission is to profile and protect the
island s trees and
WHEREAS Evergreen Cities well keep existing trees and plant new ones to create a more livable
City increase property values and provide a better water supply and cleaner habitat for fish and wildlife

NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
