RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge Island,
Washington concurring with the Washington Mate
Department of Transportation recommendation tion to reduce
the speed limit on portions of State Route 305.
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Transportation "WS T" has
received numerous requests from the Bainbridge Island community to reduce the speed
limit on Mate Route 305; and
WHEREAS, WSDOT proposes to reduce the existing 55 mph zone between MP 1.09 to
MP 6.20 to 50 mph for all traffic as depicted in Exhibit A attached; and
WHEREAS, this change will create a continuous speed zone of 50 mph for a total of 5. 11
miles (beginning at MP 1. 09, . 10 mires north of High School Road and ending at VIP 6.20
Agatewood Road); and
WHEREAS, this section of roadway has two lanes, narrow shoulders and several
driveways; and
WHEREAS, WSDOT conducted a speed study in October 2008; and
WHERire accordance with the Washington Model Traffic Ordinance, the City
Engineer requests that the City Council concur with the Washington State Department o
Transportation recommendation to reduce the speed limit on SI o5 from MP 1.09 to MP
6.20 from 55 mph to 50 mph; now, therefore,
THE CITY CODICIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City concurs with the Washington Mate Department of
Transportation recommendation to reduce the speed limit on SR305 from MP 1.09 to MP
6.20 from 55 mph to 50 mph.
