AN EMERGENCY 0RDINANOE declaring an emergency and
authorizing expenditures to provide therefor.
~rw~REAS, the severity of the 1955/1956 winter weather and the dam-
age to streets and roads therefrom could not be reasor~ably anticipated at
the time of establishing the 1956 budget, and
WB]EP~S, the mint chance of streets and roads is in the bounds of
necessity and in the interests and welfare of all citizens;
NOW, THEPa~OPa, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Winslow,
Ws shingt on:
That an emergency exists resulting from unusual weather conditions.
That maintenance of the streets and roads in usable condition with
perm.nent repairs when practicable is a duty of the Council and in the best
interests of its citixene.
That the maintenance costs and repairs to the streets in 1956 ex-
ceeded the amount budgeted by $1,000.00 for each of those items.
Th~.t authority is hereby given for the expenditure of $2,000.00.
in addition to amounts previously budgeted for the Street ~und to meet the
emergency herein declared.
