Section 2. In the event that Initiative 695 is not approved by the voters of the State of
Washington or if Initiative 695 fails to become law for any other reason, the 1999 property tax
levy for collection in 2000 is $3,173,207 (the amount levied in 1998 for collection in 1999) plus
an increase of $81,793, which is an increase of two and fifty-eight one-hundredths (2.58) percent
(which increase is not greater than the amount the City could levy under RCW 84.55.092) plus
an increase equal to the amount allowed under the new construction provisions of RCW
84.55.010.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be certified to the proper Kitsap County officials,
as provided by law. The taxes levied in this ordinance shall be collected and paid to
the Director of Finance and Administrative Services of the City of Bainbridge Island at the time
and in the manner provided by the laws of the State of Washington for the collection of taxes for
non-charter code cities.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force on and after December 1,
1999, which date is more than five days from and after its passage, approval, and publication as
required by law.
