AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BA1NBRiDGE ISLAND ADOPTING THE FINAL
BUDGET OF THE CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDiNG DECEMBER 31, 2000
WHEREAS, on August 18, 1999. the Finance Director submitted to the Mayor eslimates
of re\ cnucs and expenditures for the fiscal year ending December 31. 2000, (this date being
prior to thc date required by laxv); and
WHEREAS, TIle Mavor reviewed the estimates and made such changes and/or additions
as he deemed appropriate, and on November 17, 1999, filed said revised preliminary budget
with thc City Clerk, and this prcliminag,.' bndget was presented to the Finance Conunittee
of the City Council at its rcgnlar meeting on November 17, 1999, and was discnssed at its
regular meetings oil December 1. 1999 and December 16, 19991 and
WHEREAS, tile City Conncil met on November 17, 1999, to discuss the budget, and also on
Novembcr 23, December 8, and December 15, 1999, and further a public hearing on taxes and
ravenhas was held ou October 6, 199% during which meetings they reviewed tile preliminary
budget, and schcdnled final hearings on the budget beginning on December 6, 1999, for the
purpose of providing information to the public regarding the estimates and programs
contained in tbc preliminaD' budgct and at which hearings all taxpayers were heard who
appeared for or against any part of said budget: and
WHEREAS, the Ci~' Council met regarding tile proposed budget on December 22, 1999, for the
purpose of fixing a final budget and at which meeting the Ci.ty Council made such changes as
it decmad necessa~' and proper; now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I The final budget for thc fiscal >'car 2000 is hereby adopted in fnll, Three
copies of the cmirc budget document are to be placed on file with the office of the City Clerk for
for public mspcction
SECTION 2 Attached hereto and identified as Exhibit A. in summa~, form, are the totals of
budgeted resources and uses for each separate fitnd and the aggregate totals for all such fimds
combined

SECTION3 Because the amounts ofrcvenues and expenditures to be recordcd in thc
Building &Dcvelopment Services Fund are not clearly fixed and because the Building & Develop-
u~ent Services Fnnd 'recci~cs substantial operating transfers from the Current Expense Fund, this
Budget authorizes additional amounts to be spent from the Building & Development Services Fund
and to be co~crcd by additional operating transfers from the Current Expense Fund provided that the
tetal cxpcnditurcs for these mo funds shall be no more than the amount authorized by tiffs ordinance.
SECTION 4. A complete copy of the final budget for 2000, as adopted. together with a
cop3 of this ordinancc shall be transmitted by the Cib' Clerk to the Division of Municipal
Corporations of the Office of the State Auditor and to the Association of Washington Cities,
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect on J,'muary 1. 2000.
