~1~ OIiDIN~CE regulating soli'citors, pedlers, hawkers,
itinerant merchants or transient vendors of merchandise in
t~e To~..~ of Winslow, XVashington, declaring it to be a nuisance
for those engaging in such pursuits to go in or upon private
residences v~ithout ~aving been requested or invited so to do,
providing penalties for violations thereof, and repealing all
ordinances in conflict there~ith,
BE IT ORDAINED by the To~,m Co~cil of the To~,,m of
Winslo~,.~, Washington, as follows:
Sec. 1. That the practice of going in and upon
private residences in the Town of, Winslow, Washington,
by solicitors, pedlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants, or
transient vendors oi' merchandise not having Deen requested
or invited so to do by the ovanet or o~vners, occupant or
occupants, of said private residences l'or the purpose of
solicitin:: orders for the sale of goods, ~.,~ares and merchandise,
and/or disposing of and/or peddling or ha~,.,~king the same, is
declared to be a nuisance and punishable as such nuisance
as a misdemeanor.
Sec. 2. T1~at any person violating the provisions of
this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be fined not
more than ~I00~00, or inprisoned for not more than 30 days,
or bot~,
Sec. 3- This ordinance is necessary I'or the imediate
preservation of the public health and sai'ety, and shall take
e.iTect i~mqaediately upon its passage.
Sec. ~ That all ordinances or parts oi' ordinances
in conflict here~.~ith are hereby repealed.
