ORD 61-99 REGULATING STOP SIGNS tN OP~DINA_NCE regulating stop signs in the Tom of
Winslow, 'Washington, providing penalties for the violations
thereof, and repealing all ordinances in conflict here~ith.
BE IT ORDAII~D by the Tovm Comncil of the Town of Winslow,
Washington, as follows:
Section 1: In order to provide safety at intersections on
streets within the Town of Winslow, the Town Council may require
persons traveling upon any portion of such a street to stop before
entering the intersection. For this purpose there may be erected
a standard stop sign as prescribed in the State of Washington
"i.Zanual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways."
A!l persons traveling upon the designated street(s) shall come to a
complete stop at such a sign, and the appearance of any sign so
located shall be sufficient warning to a person that he is required
to stop. A person stopping at such a sign shall proceed through
such portion of the street in a careful manner and at a reasonable
rate of speed not to exceed 20 miles per hour. It shall be unlawful
to fail to comply with the directions of any such stop sign.
Section 2: That any person ~iolating the provisions of this
ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be fined not less than
or in~prisoned not more than 30 days, or both fined and imprisoned.
Section 3: This ordinance is necessary for the i~mnediate
preservation of the public health and safety and shall take effect
im~.ediately upon its pas sage.
Section 4: That all ordinances, or parts of ordinances in
con~!ict herewith are hereby repealed.
