RES 69-01 ALLOCATION OF FUNDS CITY OF CLE ELLFiI CLE ELUM, UASHINGTON Subject: Distribution ~f State Funds to Cities and To: Mayors and Councilmen of Every City and Town in the State of ]fashington and to the Association .f Uashington Cities. During the past biennium, the State of ]~rashington distributed ~22,000~000.O0 to the Cities and To~ns of the State of ~shington as fellows: 2~ to all cities and towns 25~ to ci'~ies of over 20,000 population 25~ to cities with 5 or more policemen 25% to cities with 5 or more firemen The members ~f the Cle Elu$ City Council feel that small cities and towns are.being discriminated against by the above formula for distributing state funds to the Cities and To~ms ~f the State cf \/achington. Ue feel that the above formula is unconstitutional and that all monies 2hould be distributed on a per capita basis. Since the State Legislature will meet in January, and since they will be f~rmulating a ne~.~ budget for the next biennium, and providing the State makes a similar a.~propriatien to the Cities and Tc~.~ns, The Cle Elum City Counc'il ~rould appreciate receiving an_opinion from every City. and T~wn in the State as to how State monies should be distributed t~ the various cities and towns in the State af Uashingto~. The results of this poll ~;ill be presented to the State Legislators during the 1969 session.
