RES 69-08 CHANGE CLASSIFICATION TO NON-CHARTER A RESOLUTION of the Town of Winslow, Washington, declaring the intention of the Town Council to change the classi- fication of the Town to that of a Non-Charter Code City and declaring that the Town intends to retain a plan of government under which it presently is operating. WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature has, by laws of 1967, Extraordinary Session Chapter 119 provided a new system and body of laws for towns in the State of Washington to operate under and pursuant to; and WHEREAS, the new system and body of laws provides certain advantages and benefits to the town which it does not presently have and provides no significant disadvantages which would offset the additional advantages which would be gained by operating under and pursuant to the new laws; and WHEREAS, to secure the benefits and advantages provided for by such laws, the Town Council has, pursuant to an~in accordance with such laws decided to change the classification of the Town of Winslow. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Winslow, Washington,'as follows: Section 1. That pursuant to and in accordance with RCW 35A.02. 030 (Chapter 119, Laws Extraordinary Session 1967, Section 35A.02.030) ~scouncil of the Town of Winslow does hereby declare its intention to change the classification of the Town of Winslow to that of Non-Charter Code City. Section 2. In accordance with and pursuant to the terms of Section 35A.02.030, Laws Extraordinary Session, 1967, Chapter 119, the Council of the Town of Winslow having considered the optional plans of government available to them under and pursuant to said laws and being pursuaded that the Mayor-Council form of government provided for therein is in all significant respects identical to the form of government the town is presently operating under, and does hereby declare its intention to retain the same form of government which it presently has, to-wit: The Mayor-Council form of government. Section 3. The Council of the Town of Winslow does hereby declare that it is its intention that it secure all of the advant- ages and privileges under any applicable provision of Laws 1967 Extraordinary Session, Chapter 119 and that from and after ninety (90) days from the first date of publication of this Resolution of intention, if no timely and sufficient referendum petition has been filed as determined by Section 35A.29.170, it shall adopt an ordin- ance adopting for the Town of Winslow the classification of Non-Charter Code City and will from and after that time operate pursuant to and S 4 ~ ection .
