RES 84-02 HEALTHY BABY WEEKRESOLUTION NO. 84-2
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON,
DECLARING HEALTHY BABY WEEK, J~qUARY 13-19, 1984.
I~IE~tEAS, the City of Winslow values its children as the
future of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, freedom from suffering and the tragedy of birth
defects is important to the quality of life of our children;
and
WHEREAS, each year 250,000 American babies (one in every
twelve live births) are born with some serious defect; and
WHEREAS, birth defects are implecated in half the deaths
of preschool children and are responsible for almost two-fifths
of the deaths of elementary school children; and
WHEREAS, through education and early prenatal cure the
effect of birth defects can be greatly minimized; therefore
The City Council ~ the City of Winslow hereby resolves
that January 13-19, 1964 be designated Healthy Baby week in the
City of Winslow.
Further, the City Council resolves that education for
people of childbearing age and young people who will someday
be parents, regarding the prevention of birth defects is an
important tool in improving the quality of life of tomorrow's
children of the City of Winslow.

19thday of January, 1984.
