RES 84-04 SENIOR/COMMUNITY CENTERRESOLUTION NO. 24-4
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW ESTABLISHING GOALS FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION OF THE SENIOR/~ITY CENTER
WHEREAS, the City of Winslow desires that a center be established for a self-
supporting activity program for older men and wnnen; and
WHEREAS, the City of Winslow also desires that the center be available for
use by conmunity groups and individuals when not needed for senior activities,
for a fee to be bused on cost for the use of the building; and
WHEREAS, at the April 21st, 1983 Winslow City Council meeting, was established
the Bainbridge Island Senior/Ccmnunity Center Board, a broad group of individuals
and organizations which have generously contributed time, money, and leadership
to make this project occur; and
WHEREAS, the City of Winslow has recently purchased a house and property located
adjacent to Waterfront Park and intends the property to be used for a Senior/
Ccmrpanity Center, though ownership of the building is to remain with the City
except for the personal property of BISCC in the building; and
WHEREAS, with the approval of the City Council, BISCC, Bainbridge Island Senior/
Cc~nnunity Center, has now completed and paid for the remodelling of the house and
has developed plans for addtional space to be built in the near future; and
~WHEREAS, BISCC is in the process of incorporating as a non-profit corporation
of Washington State;
NOW THEI~RE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Winslow that:
1. The City of Winslow intends to continue to review all plans of BISCC for
designing, funding, ~ald building the center, beth before and after implementation.
2. The City of Winslow also intends to contract with BISCC for use, maintenance,
and scheduling of the building.
3. The City reserves the right to review the progress of the center and its
activities when advisable.
