RES 84-09 CLEAN-UP WEEKRESOLUTION 84-09 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW ESTABLISHING APRIL 21-28 AS CLEaN-UP WEEK AND DETAILING ACTIVITIES FOR THAT WEEK. WHEREAS, the City of Winslow finds that it is in the interest of health, welfare and safety of the city residents and businesses; and WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce has expressed interest in participating with the City in sponsoring a cleanup week; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Winslow as follows: 1. The City of Winslow in conjunction with the Bain- bridge Island Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Clean-Up Winslow Week to be April 21-28. 2. The following activities are planned: a) All residents and businesses are encouraged to cleanup the exterior of their premises. Bain- bridge Disposal will, at no charge, removed extra cans, bags, etc. of trash on customers' regular disposal day. All trash should be placed at the edge of the street along with regular cans. The only trash that will be picked up is material suitable to be removed by garbage truck. Such items as tires, used appliances, brush and the like will not be picked up. b) All businesses and residents are encouraged to cleanup the exterior of their prem,ises. Bainbridge Disposal will accept at no charge, at the Bain- bridge Island transfer station, known to some as the "dump" all material suitable for disposal at the transfer station. The following items will not be accepted: lumber large branches c) During the week of April 21-28 dumpsters will be placed by Bainbridge Disposal, in cooperation with the City of Winslow Maintenance Department, at several locations in Winslow. These dumpsters are available for disposal of businesses' and residents' trash and garbage. Dumpsters may be found at the following locations: Intersection of Bjune & Brien Drive d) Businesses along Winslow Way and at other business and shopping areas in Winslow are encouraged to pick up litter around their premises. Department of Ecology plastic disposal bags will be available at City Hall and at the Chamber of Commerce office for their use. City of Winslow Maintenance Crews will be available on Saturday, April 28, to remove filled bags. Filled bags should be placed in front of the premises.between 10:00 to 2:00. Please call the Chamber of Commerce if bags have not been removed by 1:00 p.m. on April 28. The City plans to purchase trash receptacles to be placed on Winslow Way. Several donations have already been offered. Any group or person wishing to make a monetary donation for trash receptacles should contact the Chamber of Commerce at 842-3700.
