RES 88-29 PROVISION FOR SICK LEAVE TO COVER CHILD CARE IN PERSONNEL MANUAL RESOLUTION NO. 88-29
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WINSLOW, WASHINGTON, REVISING THE CITY'S PERSONNEL
MANUAL TO PROVIDE FOR SICK LEAVE CHANGES TO COVER CHILD CARE
WHEREAS, due to recent changes in state laws, revisions to
the various provisions of the personnel manual are required in
the best interest of the City of Winslow, and
WHEREAS, the City
personnel manual by this
now, therefore,
THE CITY
Council intends to add to the existing
adoption of the new provisions below,
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINSLOW, WASHINGTON, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The
handbook for the City
personnel policies as contained in the
of Winslow, as revised are hereby amended
as follows:
Article IV Compensation & Benefits, Section 13 Sick Leave,
paragraph C5 is amended so that, when amended, it shall read in
its entirety:
C. Sick leave shall apply to absences from work due to':
Illness or injury resulting in the inability to
perform the regularly assigned job.
Exposure to or presence of contagious disease
where on the job presence of the employee would
jeopardize the health of others.
3. Medical or dental or optical treatment or
examination if such cannot be scheduled at non-
working hours.
Use of prescription drugs when this prevents an
employee from safely or efficiently performing
his/her duties. All use of prescription drugs
shall be reported to an employee's department.
A health condition that requires an employee to
care for children under the age of eighteen.
Such a health condition is defined as one that
requires treatment or supervision as defined in
WAC 296-130-020(6). In all other instances the
same benefits and requirements that would govern
the employee's personal use of accrued sick leave
shall apply to the use of sick leave for the
child's treatment or supervision.
The health conditions include a medical condition
that cannot be self-administered, or one in which
the parent's absence would endanger the child's
safety or recovery, or one requiring the parent's
presence to authorize treatment, such as a doctor
or dental appointment.
SECTION 2. The above change to the personnel manual adopted
by this Resolution shall be effective upon the date of passage
hereof.
