RES 88-30 OPPOSITION TO ANY BRIDGE OTHER THAN AGATE PASS FROM BAINBRIDGE ISLAND RESOLUTION NO. 88-30
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINSLGq, WASHINGTON, OPPOSING ANY
BRIDGES OTHER THAN THE AGATE PASS BRIDGE FROM BAINBR/DGE ISLAND
TO ~INLAND KITS~P COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City of Winslow, Washington, has adopted Resolution No. 87-09,
which establishes a policy supporting unobtrusive parking near the ferry terminal
with public transportation and carpool to serve ferry co~nuters; and
MLEREAS, the City of Winslow, Washington, Comprehensive Plan and Zoning
Ordinance disallow cu~u~ercial parking in most areas outside the existing cc~rm/ter
parking lots,
N(~q THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Winslow,
Washington, that the following are policies of the City of Winslow:
Section 1. ~he City of Winslow, Washington, supports the present four
Kitsap ferry runs as an. integrated system.
Section 2. ~he City of Winslow, Washington, opposes any action by the
Washington State Legislature, the Department of Transportation, the Marine Division,
Kitsap County, any other city in Kitsap County, any citizens or corporate group which
would advocate or take any action that would tend to weaken any individual Kitsap
County ferry run or the integrated system of ferry service to and from Kitsap County.
Section 3. ~he City of Winslow, Washington, strongly opposes any bridge/
highway or bridge/tube system which connects Bainbridge Island to mainland Kitsap
County at any place other than Agate Pass.
Section 4. The City of Winslow, Washington, reaffirms its support for public
transportation and carpooling for cu~m~uters who use the Winslow ferry.
Section 5. The City of Winslow, Washington, reaffirms its support for the
1987, Zoning Ordinance and map which limits the spread of cu,u,ercial parking lots in
the ferry terminal area.
