RES 2000-24 TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE COBI WEBSITE TO INCREASE USEFULNESSRESOLUTION NO. 2000-24
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island,
Washington, relating to the City's official website; authorizing the Administration to
obtain technical assistance for the purpose of making the website more useful to the
citizens of this City.
WHEREAS, websites have become a popular and effective means of
communication between municipalities and their citizens; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Bainbridge Island expect to be able to obtain detailed,
timely and relevant information regarding City activities from the City's website; and
WHEREAS, the provision of such information on the website will help to foster
trust and understanding between the City and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City currently lacks the technical staff necessary to adequately
develop, upgrade and maintain the website to the satisfaction of the City and its citizens;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the
citizens of Bainbridge Island to develop and maintain a highly functional website; now
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
WASHINGTON, as follows:
The Mayor shall advertise a request for proposals (RFP) for technical assistance
from businesses interested in further developing and maintaining the City's website, with
special consideration given to locally owned, island -based businesses. Time is of the
essence, and the Mayor shall pursue these activities with speed and diligence.
