RES 2016-07 ACCEPTING GRANT FOR THE MILLER ROAD CORE 40 NON-MOT PROJECTRESOLUTION NO. 2016-07
A RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington
accepting a Federal Highway Administration Grant for the Miller
Road Core 40 Non -Motorized Transportation Program Project.
WHEREAS, in April 2014 the City of Bainbridge Island submitted the Miller Road Core
40 Non -Motorized Improvement Project to the Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council (KRCC)
for consideration for funding by a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City's grant request submitted in April 2014 requested FHWA Grant
funding in the amount of $874,000; and
WHEREAS, in June 2014, the KRCC Executive Board approved placement of the Miller
Road Core 40 Non -Motorized Improvement Project on the adopted Contingency List for Kitsap
County; and
WHEREAS, on February 8, 2016, the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) notified
KRCC that $751,299 in FHWA Grant Funds were available as returned funds from prior grant
cycles; and
WHEREAS, on February 11, 2016, the Transportation Policy Committee of KRCC
considered transportation projects on the adopted Contingency List for grant funding with
returned funds; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 2016, the Transportation Policy Committee of KRCC will
recommend to the KRCC Executive Board that the Miller Road Core 40 Non -Motorized
Improvement Project be loaded born the Cow 1ii�,�ency list wiI1i the available returned lairds;
now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The City will accept the FHWA Grant in the amount of $751,299 and authorize other
sources of available City funds to be used as required matching funds to complete the Miller
Road Core 40 Non -Motorized Improvement Project.
