ORD 68-11 CURFEW AN ORDINANCE of the Town of Winslow,
public streets and other places between
certain hours; defining duties of parents
or others in care of minors; providing
for arrest and penalties for violation
thereof; and repealing ordinances in
conflict therewith.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Winslow
as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any minor under
the age of ~Y years to loiter, idle, wander, stroll, __ play
in or on the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks,
playgrounds, wharves, docks, or other public grounds, public places
lots or other unsupervised places, between the hours of /~ P.~
__ M. of the following day, official town time; provided~
however, that the provisions of this section do not apply to a
minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult
person having the care and custody of the minor, or accompanied by
a member of his or her family 1S years of age or older, or where
- the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business
directed by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person; or
member of the family 18 years of age or over having the care and
custody of the minor.
Each violation of the provisions of this Section shall
constitute a separate offonce.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian,
or other adult person having the care and custody of a minor under
the age of/~ years to knowingly permit such mi or to loiter,
idle, wander, stroll, ~ play~in or on the public streets, highways,

roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, wharves, docks, or other public
grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement
and entertainment, vacant lots or oth~er unsupervised places, between
the hours of/~ -~. and. A.M7 of the following day, official
town time; provided, however, that the provisions of this Section
do not apply where the minor is accompanied by his or her parent,
guardian, other adult person having the care and custody of the
minor, or accomoanied by a member of his or her family 18 years of
age or older, or where the minor is upon an emergency errand or
legitimate business directed by his or her parent, guardian, other
adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or by a
member of his family 18 years of age or older.
Each violation of the provisions of this Section shall
constitute a separate offence.
Section 3. Any minor violating the provisions of
Section 1 shall be dealt with in accordance with Juvenile Court
law and procedure. Any parent, guardian, or other adult person
having the care and custody of a minor violating Section 2 may be
fined not more than $500.00 and imprisoned not more than thirty
days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. All existing ordinances of the Town of
Winslow are hereby repealed insofar as they may be inconsistent
with the provisions of this Ordinance.
Section 5. It is the intention of the Town Council
that each separate provision of this Ordinance shall be deemed
independent of all other provisions herein, and it is further the
intention of the Town Council that if any provisions of this

Ordinance be declared invalid, all other provisions thereof shall
remain valid and enforceable.
