AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO MUNICIPAL ~ELECTION
DECLARING THE CAUCUS SYST~2~ AS THE METHOD OF
NOMINATING CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE MUNICIPAL
OFFICES AND THE FILING OF DECLARATION OF
CANDIDACY.
BE IT ORDAINEn by the Town Council of the Town of
Winslow, Washington:
SECTION 1. That an election to fill the f~llowing
listed expiring te~ms of elective officials of the Town of
Winslow will be held as provided by State of Washington Statute
on Tuesday, November 4th, 1969.

SECTION 2. That said election shall be conducted
by the Kitsap County Auditor as ex officio County Supervisor
of elections.
SECTION ~. Said election shall be held at the Town
Hall in Winslow, Washington, or at such location as may be
designated and published by the Auditor of Kitsap County.
SECTION 4. All elective candidates for municipal
office for the Town of Winslow, Washington, shall be first
nominated by caucus as hereinafter provided.
SECTION 5. A Caucus shml~l consist of an organised
group of qualified electors of the Town of Winslow, Washington,
not less than 25 in number, espousing a political party or
principle.
SECTION 6. Such political party or principle as
referred to in Section 5 shall be expressed in nor over five
~ords in length.
SECTION 7. Notice of the meeting of any Caucus at
which candidates of any e~ection shall be chosen shall be given
by the presiding officer of such c~nc~s to the Town Clerk, who
will publish the same as by law provided, at least ten days
prior to the date fixed for the holding of such Caucus. Notice
shall contain the time and place designated by such presiding..
officer. The Caucuses provided for in this Ordinance must be
held on or before September 5, 1969.
SECTION 8. The names of the candidates nominated
at such meeting of a Caucus sh~ll be duly certified by the
presiding officer thereof to the Town Clerk within five days
following the holding of such Caucus, and said certificate shall
contain the name of the candidate, his residence address,
his business, the office for which he is nominated, and shall
be signed by not less than 25 voters residing in the Town
of Winslow. Each person so nominated shall execute a Declara-
tion and affidavit of Candidacy on forum approved by the State
of Washington and obtainable at the Town Hall. No person shall
participate in more than one Caucus or join the nomination of
more than one person for each office to be filled.
SECTION 9. The names of the candidates so certified
shall be printed on the ballot under the names of the political
party or principle so nominating them.
SECTION lO. The laws of the State of Washington
shall govern in all cases wherein this Ordinance has not
provided.
SECTION 11. This Ordinance shall become effective
when it shall have been passed by the Town Council and signed
by the Mayor.
