AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING REVISED SPEED LIMITS ON STATE
HIGHWAY 305 AND OLYMPIC WAY, AUTHORIZING INSTALLATION OF
REFLECTIVE DEVISES AND MARKERS, REVISING LOCATION AND TYPES
OF TRAFFIC DIRECTIONAL SIGNS AND REQUIRING INSTALLATION OR
DESIGN CHANGES IN SIGNS LOCATED WITHIN SPECIFIED DISTANCES
FROM DANGEROUS AREAS
The City Engineer of the City of Winslow has submitted to
the City Council an investigative report dated October 2, 1978,
which report makes certain recommendations for changes in the
interest of traffic safety along State Highway 305 and Olympic
Way within the City Limits of Winslow and the City Council
after having considered said report and other informaton
submitted has determined that certain changes should be made ~n
the interest of public health, safety and welfare, now
therefore:
The City Council of the City of Winslow DO ORDAIN as
fol].ows:
(1) The posted speed limit on State Highway 305 from the
intersection of Winslow Way north approximately 2]90 feet shall
be thirty (30) miles per hour.
(2) The posted speed limits on State Highway 305 from
approximately 2190 feet north of Winslow Way, North to the City
limits, 1700 feet north of the High School Way shall be forty
(40) miles per hour.
(3) The City Engineer is authorized to direct painting of
reflective fog lines and center lines on State Highway 305 from
High School Way to the Ferry Terminal by the Washington State
Department of Highways.
(4) The City Engineer is authorized to d~rect installation
of reflectorized buttons on the fog lines and centerline of
Olympic Way from Winslow Way to the Ferry Terminal by the
Washington State Department of Highways.

(5) The City Engineer is authorized to ~irect installation
of s~gns prohibiting "No Left Turns Between 6:30 and 8:00 A.M.
and 5:00 and 7:00 P.M. Monday thru Friday" from Winslow Way to
State Highway 305.
(6) All non-breakaway obstructions located within ten (10)
feet of the highway right-of-way from the intersection of State
Highway 305 and WiDSlOW Way South 100 feet shall be removed
within 60 days of the effective date of this Ordinance.
(7) The City EDgineer is authorized to direct removal of
unnecessary traffic informational signs located on State
Highway 305/Olympic Drive S.E. from Winslow Way to the Ferry
Terminal and to install such other warning signs as may be
~eemed necessary for traffic safety.
(8) This Ordinance shall not take effect until the design
changes described herein have been approved by the Washington
State Highway Commission.
