RES 2003-08 FALSE ALARM PUBLIC INFORMATION & EDUCATION PROGRAMRESOLUTION NO. 2003-08
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Bainbridge Island, Washington, relating to the false alarm
ordinance (Ordinance No. 2003 OS) establishing a public
information and education program.
WHEREAS, the City has established an ordinance to reduce the number of unnecessary
responses to false alarm occurring within the City of Bainbridge Island; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide a high quality of service to protect and serve the
residents of Bainbridge Island; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined a significant number of false alarms (approximately
460 per year, over a five-year period), including repeated calls to the same residential or business
location, and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that provisions contained in the false alarm
provides for corrective administrative action, including the registration of alarm systems and the
imposition of civil fines; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that the new false alarm ordinance (Ordinance No.
2003-05) will affect most City residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND WASHINGTON, as follows:
1) Between the time Ordinance 2003-05 is adopted and the effective date of May 5,
2003, the City will conduct a public information and education program to inform
citizens about the provisions of the false alarm ordinance and to build neighborly
participation for the safety and welfare of its community.
