ORD 2005-38 BUILDING PERMITS AND PLAN REVIEWS CHARGES
ORDINANCE NO. 2005-38
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, RELATING TO THE CITY'S CHARGES FOR BUILDING
PERMITS AND PLAN REVIEWS; AMENDING PARAGRAPHS 15.04.050.A
AND 15.04.050.B OF THE BAINBRIDGE ISLAND MUNICIPAL CODE.
WHEREAS, the City of Bainbridge Island has charged fees for building and related
permits and for plan reviews for more than 25 years; and
WHEREAS, the City has not increased the fees it charges for these services in several
years; and
WHEREAS, the City now desires to increase these charges so that they cover a larger
share of the costs of providing the services and also come closer to current standards and
methods for determining such charges; now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Paragraph 15.04.050.A of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code IS
amended to read as follows:
A. Permit Fees. The fee for each permit shall be set forth in Table I A, attached hereto
and adopted by reference herein calculated from Table I-A of the 1997 Uniform Building
Code, which is adopted by reference, and using the most current Building Valuation Data
supplied by the International Code Council. When Building Valuation Data is updated by
the International Code Council, the City's fees shall be adjusted as of the first of the
month at least 30 days after release of the updated figures from the International Code
Council. The calculated fees may be reduced by a percentage discount as determined by
resolution of the City Council. In no case shall the fees charged for building permits
exceed the cost to the City of the building permit regulatory function.
Section 2. Paragraph 15.04.050.B of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is amended
to read as follows:
B. Plan Review Fees When a plan or other data is required to be submitted by
~;ubsection B of Section 103.3.2, a plan review fee shall be paid at the time of submitting plans
and specifications for review. Said plan review fee shall be 65 percent of the building permit
fee calculated in paragraph A above as shown in Table No. I A. Where plans are
incomplete or changed so as to require additional plan review, an additional plan review fee
shall be charges at the rate shown in Table No. I A charged.

Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force on and after February 1,
2006, which date is more than five days after its passage, approval, and publication as required
by law.
