RESOLUTION NO. 2024-04
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of Bainbridge Island,
Washington, designating a new official newspaper of the City
of Bainbridge Island (“City”).
WHEREAS, RCW 35A.21.030 provides that the City shall designate an official
newspaper by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Bainbridge Review was previously designated the official
newspaper of the City pursuant to Resolution No. 92-41; and
WHEREAS, since 1992, the Bainbridge Review’s publishing deadlines have
changed significantly since the paper was designated the paper of record in 1992. This
has impacted the City's ability to schedule public hearings and delays the effective date of
all ordinances passed by Council; and
WHEREAS, the Kitsap Sun publishes legal ads 6 days a week as opposed to the
weekly publication for the Bainbridge Review; and
WHEREAS, the Kitsap Sun is a newspaper of general circulation in the City
having the qualifications prescribed by Chapter 65.16 RCW.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City designates the Kitsap Sun as the official newspaper of the
City of Bainbridge Island.
Section 2. If any one or more sections, subsections, or sentences of this resolution
are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portion of this resolution and the same shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its
passage.
