ORD 2004-32 COMMERICAL PARKING TAXORDINANCE NO. 2004-32
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, RELATING TO THE CITYS TAX ON COMMERCIAL
PARKING; AMENDING SECTION 5.10.020 OF THE BAINBRIDGE
ISLAND MUNICIPAL CODE.
WHEREAS, RCW 82.80.030(4) authorizes cities to collect a tax from persons
operating commercial parking businesses on the gross proceeds of the commercial
parking business; and
WHEREAS, since 1992, the City has imposed such a tax in BIMC 5.10.020; and.
WHEREAS, in BIMC 5.10.020, the City currently levies on every person
engaged in a commercial parking business within the City a commercial parking tax in an
amount equal to 30 percent of the gross proceeds of the commercial parking business, less
an annual discount to be determined each year by December 1 for the next calendar year
by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the
City to provide for greater flexibility regarding the timing of changes to the discount to be
subtracted from the percentage amount of the commercial parking tax; now, therefore,
.THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 5.10.020 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is
amended to read as follows:

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect on January 1, 2005, which date is
more than five days after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
