RES 2007-02 CIVILITY INITIATIVERESOLUTION 2007-02
A RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, supporting
the Civility Initiative being launched by Bainbridge Island Television.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of Bainbridge Island Television has undertaken an initiative
intended to encourage the community of Bainbridge Island in achieving the distinction of being one of the
(perhaps THE) most civil and best -mannered communities in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Bainbridge Island Television is undertaking an effort to provide programming aimed
at enhancing people's ability to present a point of view — or, argue, in a way that invites civil discourse,
favorable outcomes, and friendships, and
WHEREAS, Bainbridge Island Television is encouraging all Islanders to participate in the
creation of a "Civ]"ility Album" hosted on Channel 12 in which Island residents are captured committing
random acts of civility, and
WHEREAS, the City Council celebrates the ideal of Bainbridge Island as one of the (perhaps the)
most civil and best -mannered communities in the nation;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, as follows:
That the City Council endorses BITV's Civility Initiative and encourages all members of the
community to support and encourage civil discourse, favorable outcomes, and friendships.
