ORDINANCE NO. 2007-08
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
,
WASHINGTON, RELATING TO THE CITY'S CHARGES FOR BUILDING
PERMITS AND PLAN REVIEWS; AMENDING PARAGRAPH 15.04.050.A
OF THE BAINBRIDGE ISLAND MUNICIPAL CODE.
WHEREAS, the City of Bainbridge Island charges fees for building and related permits
and for plan reviews; and
WHEREAS, the City engaged the services of FCS Group of Redmond, Washington to
assess the true costs of providing such services in 2006; and
WHEREAS, the City increased these charges so that they cover a larger share of the
costs of providing the services and also come closer to current standards and methods for
determining such charges;
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Administrative Services has determined there
were minor reference errors in the previous ordinance now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Paragraph 15.04.050.A of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code IS
amended to read as follows:
A. Permit Fees. The fee for each permit shall be calculated from the 1997 Uniform
Administrative Code, which is adopted by reference, and using the most current Building
Valuation Data supplied by the International Code Council times a factor of 1.41. When
Building Valuation Data is updated by the International Code Council, the City's fees shall be
adjusted as of the first of the month at least 30 days after release of the updated figures from
the International Code Council. The calculated fees may be reduced by a percentage discount
as determined by resolution of the City Council. In no case shall the fees charged for building
permits exceed the cost to the City of the building permit regulatory function.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after its passage,
approval, and publication as required by law.
