RES 2001-61 ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEERESOLUTION 1001-61 A RESOLUTION of [lie City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, relating to establishing a technical advisory committee on environmental issues. WHEREAS, the city council has determined that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the city to manage and protect our natural resources; and WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a Salmon Recovery and Conservation Strategy on Mary 9, 2001, authorizing the formation of the Environmental Technical Advisory Committee (ETAC); and WHEREAS, the Mayor appointed the ETAC as a 90 -day committee on June 29, ?001; and WHEREAS, the ETAC provides a highly valuable resource to the city and is necessary for fulfilling the best available science requirements (WAC 365-195-900 through 365-195-925) of the procedural criteria of the Growth Management Act; now therefore; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 _ Committee establishment and authoriQL Arm Environmental Technical Advisory Committee is established for the following purposes: A. Serve as a technical advisory committee to the mayor, City Council, and Planning Department staff on environmental management issues. B. Provide technical peer review and recommendations on the Bainbridge Island Nearshore Assessment. C. Provide technical recommendations on environmental management standards for the City of Bainbridge Island Shoreline Master Program and Critical Areas Ordinance. D. Provide technical environmental review of policies and regulations proposed for the City of Bainbridge Island Shoreline Master Program and Critical Areas Ordinance. E. Conduct all items above consistent with the best available science sections ( WAC 365-195-900 through 365-195-925) of the procedural criteria of the Growth Management Act. Section 2. Committee membership and terms. The Environmental Technical Advisory Committee shall consist of qualified local experts necessary to fulfill the purposes of Section 1 and must qualify as an expert as provided in WAC 365-195-905(4), or as amended. The committee shall be appointed by the mavor, confirmed by the city council, and shall serve without compensation. The committee shat I serve for a tenn of two years from the effective date of this resolution. The term of the committee may be extended in six-month increments by the mayor as necessary.
