ORD 2011-22 RELATING TO POLICE CIVIL SERVICEORDINANCE NO. 2011-22 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, relating to police civil service; and adding anew Section 2.28.080 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code. WHEREAS; the City Council finds that the public interest would be served by having an existing city employee perform the record keeping and other ministerial duties of secretary/chief examiner of the civil service commission; NOW, THEKEFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Anew Section 2.28.080 is added to the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code to read as follows: 2.28.080 Secretary-Chief Examiner. The city manager shall designate a member of the paid staff of the city acceptable to the civil service commission to serve as the secretary-chief examiner of the commission and any person designated shall serve without additional compensation above the compensation provided for the position held with the city. Nothing in this section shall require hiring under civil service procedures to fill this position or extending civil service protection to the person so designated. The duties of the secretary-chief examiner shall be to keep the records for the commission, preserve all reports made to it, superintend and keep a recoi°d of all examinations held under its direction, and perform such other duties as the commission may prescribe. The commission shall consult with the city manager regarding the secretary-chief examiner's work schedule. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from its passage, approval, and publication as required by law. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 30t~' day of November, 2011.
