ORD 2011-25 RELATING TO THE CITY SEWER UTILITYORDINANCE NO. 2011-25
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island,
Washington, relating to the City Sewer Utility and
eliminating the scheduled increase in 2012, 2013
and 2014 sewer rates.
WHEREAS, a structure for establishing water and sewer rates, charges, and fees was
established by Ordinance No. 82-20, which has been subsequently amended; and
WHEREAS, on December 9, 2009, City Council passed Ordinance No. 2009-39 which
amended Ordinance No. 82-20 and increased sewer rates for the years 2010 through 2014; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, with the advice of the Administration, and with a
unanimous recommendation of the Utility Advisory Committee ("UAC"), has determined that
such previously scheduled increases in sewer rates, charges and fees are not financially necessary
to the prudent operation of the sewer utility as a result of favorable changes in the financial
position of the City's sewer fund that have occurred since the utility finances were studied by
FCS Group and the UAC in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Council desires to amend the BIMC Section 13.12.300 to remove
references to an outdated ordinance and to assist citizens in finding rate information; now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City's monthly rates and charges for city sewer users shall not be
increased on January 1, 2012, January 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014 as set forth in Section 2 of
Ordinance No. 2009-39, and there will be no automatic rate adjustment under BIMC Section
13.16.060 for 2012.
Section 2. Section 13.12.300 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and. be in force on January 1, 2012.
